Some Simcoe County residents were in the dark Saturday evening. According to the Alectra outage map, 980 homes and businesses were affected by the outage in the northwest part of Barrie. Around 508 customers were affected by an outage in New Tecumseth. It happened at around 5:15 p.m. and power was restored late Saturday night. A representative for Alectra says the outage was caused by an equipment malfunction.
