How much rain fell in southern Manitoba on Monday

It was a soggy start to the week for southern Manitoba, with much of the Red River Valley getting between 20 and 40 millimetres (mm) of rain.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), communities close to the U.S. border saw the heaviest rain on Monday, including Zhoda with 45.2 mm, Gardenton with 43.1 mm, Piney with 41.9 mm and Emerson with 40.3 mm.

The weather agency reports that Dominion City was hit with 39.2 mm, Marchand with 38.8 mm, Gretna and Snowflake with 38.6 mm, and Morden with 38.1.

Altona saw 37.2 mm of precipitation, while Carman got 34.5 mm, St. Adolphe received 33.1 mm, and Morris got 32.8 mm.

Other areas of note include Steinbach with 30.5 mm, St. Pierre Jolys with 30 mm, Selkirk with 28.6 mm, Teulon with 25.6 mm, and Gimli with 24.8 mm. The report also has Pinawa down for 24.4 mm, Beausejour for 23.9 mm, Pilot Mound at 22.8 mm, Stonewall at 22.4 mm and Winkler with 21.7 mm.

ECCC reports that Winnipeg got between 20 and 30 mm, with 23 mm recorded at The Forks and 29.5 mm at the airport.
