Highways begin reopening following Manitoba snowstorm

Manitoba highways are beginning to reopen after being closed due to blizzard conditions.

Multiple highways that were closed Thursday due to blizzard conditions in Manitoba have since reopened, but drivers are still urged to take caution.

Other highways closed in the province, including the Perimeter Highway, have since reopened. The City of Winnipeg has recommended limiting travel to allow emergency crews and snow plows space to work.

Manitoba RCMP said drivers on open highways in the winter should be prepared for potential emergencies and take precautions. Drivers are urged to have a full tank of gas, a fully charged cellphone, a roadside emergency kit, winter tires and jumper cables, as well as be dressed for the weather conditions.
