A beautiful day is unfolding in Winnipeg on Tuesday. The sun is shining and the temperatures are rising—all the way into the upper teens. Conditions are similar across the south—most regions will enjoy sunshine or a mix of sun and clouds with daytime highs in the mid to upper teens. Parts of the southwest could climb even higher—Brandon is forecast to reach 21 C while sunshine returns in the afternoon. Melita, so often the hot spot in Manitoba, will likely claim the title again Tuesday with temperatures expected to soar to 24 C. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure is spreading snow and showers across northern Manitoba. Temperatures will remain well below 0 C in the northernmost areas as the snow falls, while areas further south with warmer highs above the freezing mark will see a few showers. In northwestern Ontario, showers aren’t certain but are possible later Tuesday afternoon, including in Kenora and Dryden. Fort Frances will remain sunny. Highs across the region will reach 13 C or 14 C. The sky will remain mainly clear Tuesday night in Winnipeg and surrounding areas with overnight lows remaining well above the freezing mark. Temperatures will soar even higher on Wednesday, forecast to reach 22 C under a mix of sun and cloud. Thursday will be nearly as warm but could turn soggy in showers. Then be prepared for abrupt changes in temperatures by Friday, with cloudy, unseasonably cool highs of just 8 C.
