Colleen Bready’s forecast: Sunshine, mild temps break through the fog

After fog blanketed Winnipeg, Brandon and much of southern Manitoba overnight and Thursday morning, sunshine is returning this afternoon.

Daytime highs across the south will soar far above mid-February norms on Thursday, reaching the freezing mark, if not slightly above it.

For that matter, most of northern Manitoba will see similarly mild daytime highs close to 0 C.

Most of the northwest will enjoy sunshine, while the rest of the north will likely be skimmed with flurries or light snow.

Northwestern Ontario will see plenty of afternoon sunshine while heading toward mild daytime highs above the freezing mark.

Ahead on Thursday night, there is a good chance that fog will redevelop and continue into Friday morning across southern and northwestern Manitoba.

Fog can drastically and quickly reduce visibility, so prepare for the possibility if you have plans to drive.

Mild daytime highs hovering around the freezing mark will continue into early next week for Winnipeg. Friday and Saturday will be on the sunny side, while cloudy skies and flurries are likely on Sunday.

Some sunshine will return on Louis Riel Day on Monday.
