Southern Manitoba is in for a significant soaking on Monday. A low still over the northern plain states Monday afternoon will cross southern Manitoba tonight, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. Ahead of the low, substantial rain, falling heavily at times, will fall across southern regions of the province this afternoon. Winnipeg and the southeast are forecast to receive 15-25 millimetres during the day, with more to come before tapering off late tonight. Meanwhile, the weather agency said the highest rainfall amounts are expected from Swift Current and Regina in Saskatchewan to Dauphin, where 25-40 mm is forecast by tonight. As the low approaches, winds will be strong and gusty from the east and southeast across southern Manitoba Monday afternoon. There is also the risk of thunderstorms across the region.
