Prime Minister Mark Carney is slated to meet with Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe Monday to highlight an investment in Canada’s data sovereignty. Following meetings with two executives of international investment banking firms, Carney is set to meet with Moe to “highlight a historic investment in Canadian data sovereignty,” according to the prime minister’s agenda. Bell Canada is currently building a 300-megawatt AI data centre in the Rural Municipality of Sherwood, just south of Regina. Construction on the $1.7 billion facility continues, with the portion of the facility expected to come online in the first half of 2027. Both leaders are in Toronto for the Canada Investment Summit. The provincial government is operating a forum at the two-day conference – focusing on the nuclear sector and uranium development.
