Charges laid after same Manitoba home broken into four times in three days

Three men are facing charges after the same home was broken into four times in three days.

Three people are facing charges in connection with a string of break-ins at the same Manitoba home.

Virden RCMP say they received a report on March 9 that a home in the RM of Wallace-Woodworth had been broken into for a fourth time in three days.

The owner lives in Winnipeg, Man., but visits frequently. He reported the first break-and-enter on March 7. Police say a number of items were taken during that incident.

The homeowner was waiting at a friend’s place for officers to arrive when the home was broken into again, with more items taken.

They spent the night at a relative’s place and went back the next day to finish securing the home. That’s when they discovered a third break-in had been attempted.

On March 9, the homeowner, who was in Winnipeg at the time, got a call from a neighbour that four people were trying to break into the property again.

Police say a truck driven by a woman was seen picking up four suspects before driving away.

Officers say the vehicle was found three days later, abandoned in a ditch near Virden, Man.

Three men from Sioux Valley Dakota Nation were arrested this week in connection with the incidents.

Police say they face a number of break-and-enter and mischief charges.

They remain in custody.

RCMP continue to investigate and say more arrests are expected.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
