A section of Howard Avenue has reopened following a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in the early morning hours of Saturday. According to a news release, at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of a collision near the intersection of Howard Avenue and Charles Street. Once on scene, police found an unresponsive man lying in the roadway. Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the man was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a vehicle travelling northbound on Howard Avenue. The 69-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Howard Avenue was closed in both directions between Edinborough Street and Grand Marais Road East for several hours as members of the Windsor Police Service Traffic Reconstruction Unit investigated.
