Award-winning international commercials screen at WAG

Catherine Maksymiuk from the Winnipeg Art Gallery calls the quality of the ads cinematic.

Each year, millions look forward to the commercials airing during the Super Bowl.

The rest of year expectations might not be as high, but the Winnipeg Art Gallery has dozens of ads you won't want to take your eyes off of. They are some of this year's funniest and most entertaining TV commercials.

Each spot took home a prize at the 2014 Cannes Lions International Festival.

They're being screened at the Winnipeg Art Gallery as part of an exhibit dedicated to the art of the ad.

“They're entertaining. They'll make you laugh and cry and the cinematic quality is impressive,” said Catherine Maksymiuk from the Winnipeg Art Gallery.

Unlike most commercials, these won't vanish after just a few seconds.

The Cannes Lions commercials run from Dec. 4 through Dec. 19 at the WAG.
