LaSalle’s Shoppes at Heritage is adding another restaurant to its growing lineup. Piper Arms Pub will be the newest addition to the commercial development on Sandwich West Parkway near Heritage Drive. The restaurant is known for its affordable menu, chicken wing deals, British-inspired comfort food and sports-bar atmosphere. Scott D’Amore is president of the D’Amore Group and of the ‘Shoppes at Heritage’, and he says construction on the Piper Arms location is expected to begin later this year or early next year, with an opening targeted for sometime in 2027. The nearest Piper Arms location to Windsor-Essex is London, Ont. D’Amore says there has been strong demand for a sit-down restaurant in the area. “One of the things we’ve been hearing from people is ‘it would be great to have a sit-down restaurant as part of the development back in the area’. People are always talking about the days when Stars of the Game was there and missing those days when they could walk to a nice sit-down restaurant, get a nice meal, maybe grab a drink if they’d like. That’s why we’re super excited to have Piper Arms joining us.” He says the restaurant will be the chain’s first location in the Windsor-Essex area. “What’s the old saying - that Canada stops at London. And you’re starting to see now, and we’ve seen here with the Shoppes at Heritage, that these brands are really excited about the Windsor, Essex County area and bringing it down here to Essex County, to the Windsor area, and specifically to LaSalle. I think it’s just great.” D’Amore says Piper Arms checks a lot of the boxes for what local customers are looking for. “Affordability... that’s something that people are always looking for, not just here, but everywhere. It has great variety. It’s quality products that they’re using. And it’s a nice place that’s warm and comforting to sit in, to have a meal, to have a drink, maybe to watch a game. You get a great combination of that restaurant feel and a little bit of that pub feel.” The 25-acre Shoppes at Heritage development is being built in phases and is expected to include more than 250-thousand square feet of retail and services. A McDonald’s opened last November, followed by Tim Hortons and Food Basics over the winter. Other announced tenants include Dollarama, Shoppers Drug Mart, Pet Valu and Taco Bell, with plans also calling for a hotel. The Shoppes at Heritage is part of a planned $200-million commercial development, with more announcements expected as additional phases move forward.
