Porter Airlines is expanding into southwestern Ontario with the launch of its first-ever service from London International Airport (YXU), introducing four nonstop seasonal routes to popular destinations in Florida, Mexico and Jamaica beginning this winter. According to a release from the airline, the new routes will provide travellers in the greater London region with direct access to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Cancun and Montego Bay, while setting the stage for a broader domestic network planned for 2027. “The introduction of Porter service at YXU will benefit more than two million people in the greater London area who can now fly from their local airport,” said Michael Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “Travellers throughout the region deserve seamless, elevated travel options closer to home. The combination of southern and domestic flights is an opportunity to introduce them to Porter’s award-winning passenger experience, delivered with genuine care and hospitality.” The airline will begin service to Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 18, followed by Orlando on Nov. 19. Flights to Cancun and Montego Bay will launch in December. The new routes will be operated using Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which feature no middle seats. London Mayor Josh Morgan said the expansion will provide residents with more options to travel both internationally and within Canada. “I think the excitement here isn’t just the international destinations, but Porter’s commitment to bringing Canadian wide destinations right here to the heart of southwestern Ontario in London. This is going to connect Londoners not just to the world, but to cities across this country.” Porter said it is also committed to establishing a year-round domestic network from London by summer 2027, with route details and schedules to be announced at a later date. London International Airport officials said the announcement represents a significant step forward for air service in the region. “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for air service in Southwestern Ontario,” said Scott McFadzean, president and CEO of London International Airport. “We are proud to welcome Porter Airlines to YXU and to celebrate an airline that will reshape connectivity for our region.” Porter said flights on the new routes are now available for booking. The airline also says its U.S. market remains strong despite ongoing tensions between Canada and the United States, with significant growth potential from London.
