Aug. 26, 2026, marks the five-year anniversary of the explosion in Wheatley.

Hydrogen sulphide gas ignited from an undocumented well in 2021. It destroyed two buildings, damaged several others, and hurt 20 people.

According to residents, Wheatley has come a long way since the incident.

The site has since been cleared and there are plans to turn it into the park eventually.
