Barrie police say the discovery of a weapon as cause for concern for some keen-eyed residents. According to police, two passersby found a weapon in a ditch in the area of Big Bay Point Road and Loon Avenue on Monday. The residents initially notified a nearby fire station, who contacted Barrie police. The weapon remained in the ditch until officers arrived to collect it, shortly after 7 p.m. Barrie Police confirm it was a BB gun. Police remind residents that BB guns are legal and can be purchased at many retailers.
