23-year-old arrested after fleeing crash: WPS

A 23-year-old driver has been arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash.

Just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, the Windsor Police Service was called to a report of a two-vehicle crash near Wyandotte Street East and Marentette Avenue.

Police said a vehicle was headed east on Wyandotte, it tried to turn north onto Marentette and hit another vehicle.

Minor injuries were sustained by both drivers.

The WPS said one driver ran from the scene before police arrived on scene. The suspect was found nearby and brought back to the scene.

A 23-year-old driver is facing charges of:

• Failure to remain at the scene of a collision
• Careless driving
• Driving while under suspension
• Failure to properly wear a seat belt

The driver’s vehicle was impounded for seven days.
