Victoria police seek man wanted on Canada-wide warrant after leaving facility

Victoria police are asking for the public’s help finding a 35-year-old man who is now the subject of a Canada-wide warrant after leaving a community residential facility in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police say Joel Reed, 35, left a parole community residential facility in Victoria without authorization, and is now considered unlawfully at large.

Reed is currently serving a federal sentence for a series of convictions, including extortion, breaking and entering, theft under $5,000, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, and possession of a firearm with ammunition, according to police.

He is described as 5’10” tall, weighing around 198 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Investigators say Reed is known to be associated with a grey, four-door 2005 Audi A8 sedan.

Police are warning the public not to approach Reed if seen and to call 911 immediately. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Victoria police non-emergency line and reference file 26-19788.
