A rockfall occurred in Banff National Park on Tuesday morning. Parks Canada confirmed the incident occurred in the Rundle Rock area of Banff National Park around 11 a.m. The area has been temporarily closed. “All known parties have been accounted for,” Parks Canada said in a statement. “There are no known injuries at this time.” A public notice shortly after the rockfall took place. The notice said emergency crews were responding and asked the public “to avoid the Bow Falls and Golf Course Road.” At this time, it’s not known what caused the rockfall. But Parks Canada said it was “a large amount” that came down. Parks Canada said the incident left “a significant number of boulders in the Rundle Rock climbing area.” “The immediately impacted area will remain closed until geotechnical assessment is complete,” Parks Canada said. “The area from the Spray River bridge through to the golf course loop remains temporarily closed to the public, including to pedestrian access.”
