The Government of Saskatchewan says the modernization and expansion of Balgonie’s Greenall High School is moving forward. In an update released Tuesday, the province reported that the design phase of the project has been completed and a Request for Proposal (RFP) has been issued to secure a general contractor. The Prairie Valley School Division is working with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement to complete the project. According to Prairie Valley board chair Janet Kotylak, the revamp will expand the school’s learning environment, improve facilities for students and allow for diverse programming suiting. Students can expect to see a larger gym and upgraded performing and visual arts spaces, according to the province. “We are excited about this step in the project as it brings us closer to the expansion and modernization of Greenall High School benefiting students across the many communities it serves,” Kotylak said in the news release. The project includes renovations to the existing building along with the construction of a 1,050 square-metre addition to increase capacity. The $21 million expansion was first approved in the 2023-24 provincial budget. “Our government continues to make strong investments in school infrastructure across Saskatchewan,” Education Minister Everett Hindley said in the release. “The upgrades and addition at Greenall High School are part of that commitment, helping ensure students have access to safe, modern spaces that support learning, activities and overall well-being.” The Request for Proposal is scheduled to close on July 28, 2026.
