Missing Indigenous woman still not found despite ‘extensive investigative steps’: B.C. RCMP

A weeks-long investigation into an Indigenous woman’s disappearance on Vancouver Island has failed to locate her, prompting a renewed appeal from police.

Rosemary Harry, 34, was last seen on Jan. 28 and reported missing on Feb. 4, the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP said in a statement last month.

“Police are very concerned for Rosemarie Harry’s health and well-being and friends and family report that it is out of character for her to be out of contact for this long,” the statement said.

On Wednesday, the detachment detailed the “extensive investigative steps” it has taken in the missing person case.

“Numerous interviews have been conducted, and officers have canvassed for CCTV footage at businesses and residences throughout the Duncan area. Additional investigative measures have also been completed under the BC Missing Persons Act,” the statement said.

Search and rescue crews have also been engaged, as have RCMP helicopters.
