It was described as a senseless stabbing death after a drug fueled verbal argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend turned deadly. The court heard that on Sept. 22, 2023, 27-year-old Terry Albert Jr. and his girlfriend Christine Bishop, 37, were both addicts and high on drugs after having consumed fentanyl that day. The dispute escalated and Bishop ended up stabbing Albert twice with a deadly wound to the chest at their Forbes Street address in south London. After she fled the scene, Bishop would later be located with a bloody paring knife. Originally charged with second-degree murder, in February 2025 Bishop pled guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. While handing down his sentence on Friday morning, Justice Kevin McHugh told the court, “The defendant made no effort to assist the victim after having stabbed him and left the scene without alerting the authorities to the victim’s need for what had to be medical attention.” Outside the courthouse, Albert’s cousin Emily Kechego said, “It’s sad, I know we are all still very angry. “ McHugh sentenced Bishop to five-and-a-half years. With credit for time already served she has just over a year-and-a-half left on her sentence. The sentence angered the Albert family even more with Kechego saying, “She will be able to rehabilitate, Terry will never be able to do that. Terry will never be able to have kids or see his nephew grow up or come to family functions.” “He’s never going to get that chance that she’s going to get,” she said. Kechego however did agree with the judge when he said, “Mr. Albert’s death has had a significant impact on the family unit.” As the Albert family left the London Courthouse, Kechego said she misses her cousin everyday. “He was someone who always brightened up the room,” she said. “He could always make you laugh.”
