Authorities are asking witnesses to come forward after a Langley senior was found critically injured on Canada Day. Langley RCMP said officers responded to a report of a man in distress near Park Avenue and Douglas Crescent around 9:48 p.m., and arrived to find an injured 74-year-old. After receiving surveillance video from the area, investigators believe the senior’s injuries “may be the result of an assault,” Const. Peter Mann said in a statement Thursday. “Officers believe there were additional people in the area who may have witnessed the incident, and we are asking those individuals to come forward and speak with investigators,” Mann said. The victim remained in hospital in critical condition as of Thursday afternoon, the RCMP said. Anyone who was in the area between 9:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Wednesday—or has dash-cam video—is asked to contact the Langley detachment.
