Parts of the Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway will be closed on Sunday to accommodate an annual triathlon in Toronto. There will be a number of road closures in place for the 13th annual Supertri Toronto, which was previously known as the Toronto Triathlon Festival, on Sunday. Temporary road closures will be in effect around Exhibition Place and along portions of Lake Shore Boulevard West for the event, which includes a 1.5-kilometre swim, 40-kilometre bike ride and 10-kilometre run. The westbound curb lane of Lake Shore Boulevard West, from New Brunswick Way to British Columbia Road, will be closed from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. The eastbound curb lane will be shut down from Lake Shore Boulevard West, from Ontario Drive to east of British Columbia Road, from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Gardiner Expressway will be closed eastbound, from Humber River to the Don Valley Parkway, from 2 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the Don Valley Parkway will be shut down northbound, from the Gardiner Expressway to Eglinton Avenue, during the same time period. “Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead by allowing extra travel time, considering alternate routes and following all posted detour signage and directions from police officers and event personnel,” Toronto police said in a news release issued Wednesday. Maintenance work on Line 2 Subway service won’t be up and running on Line 1 between St. George and Broadview stations until 11 a.m. on Sunday due to “planned infrastructure maintenance.” Service between the stations will be replaced by shuttle buses. GO Transit disruptions On Saturday and Sunday, GO buses will replace train service on the Kitchener Line between Stratford or Kitchener and Mount Pleasant GO stations, Metrolinx says. There will also be no GO train service between Allandale Waterfront GO and Union Station on the Barrie Line on both Saturday and Sunday.
