Watering restrictions to take effect

Dozens of rivers across B.C. are still swollen with spring runoff, and the rain never seems to end on the South Coast but -- starting tomorrow -- watering restrictions take effect in Metro Vancouver.

And this year's restrictions place new rules on homeowners because evening lawn sprinkling is no longer allowed.

Metro Vancouver officials say evening watering puts greater demand on the system during peak hours.

As of June 1st, even numbered addresses in Vancouver may sprinkle lawns Monday, Wednesday or Saturday between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m., while odd-numbered properties can water on Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday morning at the same time.
