Vancouver nurse suspended 1 week for accessing patient records without authorization

A Vancouver nurse agreed to a suspension of her registration as discipline for accessing a patient’s health records without authorization to do so, according to the provincial regulatory body.

Afsaneh Torabimoghaddam entered a consent agreement with the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives on Feb. 2 to “address practice issues” that occurred in June 2025.

An online summary of the agreement says Torabimoghaddam’s conduct was “unsatisfactory” with respect to the college’s standards of privacy and confidentiality, ethical practice, and professional responsibility and accountability.

“BCCNM standards set expectations to ensure nurses are practising competently, ethically, responsibly, and safely,” the public notice reads. “Nurses are accountable for their nursing decisions, actions, and professional conduct. Nurses must meet these standards in providing care to patients.”

Torabimoghaddam’s registration was suspended for one week for the breach, a move the college says it believes will “address the issues and protect the public.”
