Mounties in Prince George say they have seized roughly $29,000 and “a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs” from a home in the city earlier this week. The investigation began on Monday, Aug. 24, Prince George RCMP said in a news release Thursday. Front-line officers conducting a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act attended a home in the 6200 block of Monterey Road and arrested the lone occupant inside, according to the release. A search of the home yielded $29,000 in cash and “over 100 grams of two unknown substances believed to be illicit drugs,” police said. They also seized two firearms, ammunition and drug trafficking paraphernalia. The suspect—who police did not name or share any details about, such as age or gender—was released pending results of laboratory testing on the seized substances and charge approval from the Public Prosecution Service of Canada. “This investigation highlights the excellent observational skills and diligence of our front-line police officers,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, in the release. “We will continue to proactively target illegal weapons and illicit drugs in our community and bring the findings of these investigations before the courts.”
