Police investigating after woman struck, killed in Maple Ridge B.C.

Police are investigating after a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday in Maple Ridge, B.C.

Mounties were called to the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Laity Street at approximately 5:30 a.m. for a report that a pedestrian had been struck.

Paramedics transported the victim to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to a statement from the Ridge Meadows RCMP.

Lougheed Highway remained closed to eastbound traffic between Laity and 216th streets through the morning.

Police say the driver of the vehicle is co-operating with the ongoing investigation by the Ridge Meadows RCMP’s serious crime unit.
