More than 20 catalytic converters recovered, suspect arrested in Abbotsford: police

A tip from a concerned resident led to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of more than 20 catalytic converters in Abbotsford, according to police.

In a social media post, the Abbotsford Police Department said officers received a call from a member of the community who noticed something was off in the Whatcom Road and Highway 1 area on Tuesday.

Police said the caller reported there was a man nearby who appeared to be cutting catalytic converters.

Within just six minutes of being on scene, police were able to track down the suspect and make an arrest.

Investigators said criminal charges are pending, and the vehicle has been seized as offence-related property.

“A big thank you to the citizen who trusted their instincts and took the time to call,” police said in the post. “Your quick action made a real difference and helps keep our community safe.”
