Man charged in shooting at Surrey business, extortion task force says

A suspect has been charged after a shooting in a Surrey business complex last summer, B.C.’s extortion task force announced Monday.

There were no injuries when the business in the 8100 block of 128 Street was shot at overnight on July 21, 2025, according to police.

The B.C. Extortion Task Force later took conduct of the investigation and identified a suspect in Calgary, Alta.

On Friday, officers arrested 22-year-old Jaskarn Singh in Calgary, and he now faces one charge of reckless discharge of a firearm.

Singh was transferred to custody in B.C. where he is due to appear in court for a bail hearing on Tuesday.

“Crime doesn’t recognize provincial borders, and our response can’t either,” Chief Supt. Duncan Pound said, in a news release.

“The work of the BC Provincial Extortion Task Force relies on strong, co-ordinated partnerships with agencies across Canada. That collaboration allows us to move seamlessly between jurisdictions, follow the evidence wherever it leads, and disrupt those who believe they can evade accountability by crossing a boundary.”
