Khatsahlano, Carnaval del Sol and more events happening in Vancouver this weekend

Street parties, cultural celebrations and a massive outdoor concert highlight a plethora of events happening across Metro Vancouver this weekend. Here are some you may want to check out.

Khatsahlano Street Party

Seven stages of live music, nine beer gardens, dozens of food trucks and community vendors will all be set up along West 4th Avenue between Burrard and Macdonald streets Saturday for the annual Khatsahlano Street Party.

The theme of this year’s event is “Wonderland,” and organizers promise “a fantastical playground of music, art, food, shopping and community magic.”

The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the concert lineup is available on the Khatsahlano website.

Carnaval del Sol

Jonathan Rogers Park in Mount Pleasant will be transformed this weekend for Carnaval del Sol, Vancouver’s annual celebration of Latin American music and culture.

The event begins with an opening night concert on Friday. Saturday and Sunday will see more than 350 artists and performers and 90 visitors and exhibitors set up across the event’s 13 “plazas.”

Indian Summer Festival

Thursday marked the start of the 2026 Indian Summer Festival, a curated series of South Asian arts and culture events taking place around Metro Vancouver through July 19.

Among this year’s events are comedy performances, concerts, talks and art installations. Visit the festival website for schedule and ticket information.

Squamish Nation Youth Pow-Wow

Head to the North Shore this weekend for the fourth annual Squamish Nation Youth Pow-Wow.

Described as a “friendly dance competition” focused on “uplifting our youth and providing opportunities for education, employment and healing through culture,” the event is open to visitors and spectators of all cultures.

Traditional food, more than 100 vendors and a variety of entertainment for all ages will also be on offer.

Fridays on Front

Downtown New Westminster’s free, weekly summer street party resumes this Friday and continues through Aug. 21.

Fridays on Front brings live music, food and drink vendors, local artisan goods and more to Front Street from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. each week during the period, except for July 31.

Symphony at Sunset

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will hold its annual “Symphony at Sunset” outdoor concert on Saturday at 8 p.m. in David Lam Park.

The free performance draws thousands to the scenic setting and will feature beloved works of classical music, as well as blockbuster film scores.

For the sports fans

While Vancouver’s World Cup hosting duties are over, the tournament continues with the quarterfinals this weekend, and there are plenty of public viewing parties where you can watch the matches between Spain and Belgium on Friday and between England and Norway and Argentina and Switzerland on Saturday.

There are also a variety of sporting events that are actually taking place in Vancouver this weekend, including the Vancouver Open beach volleyball tournament at Kits Beach and the Stanley Park Open tennis tournament.

The Vancouver Canadians are also wrapping up a series against the Everett Aquasox at Nat Bailey Stadium, with games scheduled on Thursday night and Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
