Several Manitoba communities are under tornado watches according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). The yellow watches are for communities in the western part of the province, including Brandon, Souris, the RM of Dauphin, and Killarney. “Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms which may produce tornadoes. Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible,” the watch reads. A red tornado warning was issued for Killarney, Turtle Mountain and Ninette around 3:43 p.m., but it has since ended ECCC said if a tornado occurs, people should go indoors to a room on the lowest floor and away from outside walls and windows. Last month, eight tornadoes were reported in Manitoba.
