Police in Abbotsford, B.C., say a man is facing multiple charges after officers seized 12 kilograms of drugs, a handgun and tens of thousands of dollars in cash as part of a year-long drug-trafficking investigation. The probe, dubbed Project Interruption, began in April 2025 when patrol officers spotted a suspected drug trafficker who was driving while prohibited, the Abbotsford Police Department said in a news release Thursday. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, who investigators identified as 36-year-old Tyler Missen. During the arrest, police say they found illicit drugs and a pistol in his possession. The discovery prompted the launch of Project Interruption, which culminated in several search warrants, including one at a home in the 31100 block of Deertrail Drive, the department said. The searches resulted in the seizure of more than 12 kilograms of illicit drugs, including carfentanil, cocaine and methamphetamine, according to the release. Investigators also recovered more than $60,000 in cash, body armour, a firearm and several loaded magazines. “The quantity of drugs seized, particularly carfentanil—a highly potent synthetic opioid—had the potential to cause significant harm within the community,” the department said. “The seizure of these drugs, firearms, and proceeds of crime represents a substantial disruption to local drug trafficking activities and reinforces AbbyPD’s commitment to targeting individuals who profit from the sale of dangerous illicit substances.” Court records show Missen is charged with six counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He also faces charges of possession of a firearm contrary to an order, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, and driving while disqualified. Missen remains in police custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 16.
