Family launches search for missing 20-year-old

Worried friends and family are launching search parties for Kevin Fry, a 20-year-old man from Surrey who’s been missing since the early morning of New Years Day.

Fry was last seen by his roommate leaving his home in the Guildford area of Surrey at 156^th Street and 198^th Avenue. Family has had no word from him since, and they say it’s unusual for him to not stay in contact.

“He’s gone away for a few days but he’s always in contact with his twin sister. Always in contact daily,” said Fry’s mother, Tracey Fry.

This is not the first time the Fry's have dealt with news of a missing family member. Tracey Fry’s husband has been missing for 13 years.

“Kind of the same thing. He got up to go to work one day, didn’t show up for work and didn’t come home,” she said. “No bank activity, no nothing.”

Police say Kevin Fry has no known mental health or addiction issues and has not picked up his last pay cheque from his employer.

Friends and family are now forming search parties to try and find him, and bring him home.

A team of supporters gathered in Surrey at Dogwood Elementary Saturday to put up posters and search the city on foot for any sign of Fry.

“We hope to find anything, that someone saw him in the neighbourhood that day or can remember anything,” said Tracey Fry. “Kevin lived around here and he obviously left from here, so we’re hoping somebody has seen something, even which direction he went in.”

A Facebook page has been created for another event Sunday in Vancouver starting at Waterfront Station. Volunteers will be assigned streets throughout downtown to search, and will be showing photos of Fry.

Fry is described as a 6-foot-1 Caucasian with dirty blond hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a red plaid shirt, a ball cap and a red and black checkered coat. He has a tattoo of a sword with two snakes on his inner left forearm.
