Burnaby chemical spill sends 2 to hospital

Two people were taken to hospital and several others were treated at the scene as a result of a chemical spill in Burnaby.

Officials said the spill occurred Wednesday afternoon at Van Press Printers, located at 8325 Riverbend Crt. It is believed that the chemical is some kind of compound used in the printing process.

The fire chief said two people were vomiting and had eye irritation, and were taken to hospital for treatment. Another 11 were examined and decontaminated on location.

The spill has been contained.
