B.C. man plans motorcycle trip across Canada after $500K lottery win

A B.C. man is planning an epic trip with his grandson after netting a life-changing windfall on a lottery ticket earlier this month.

Valemount resident Harold H. matched all four Extra numbers to win the $500,000 top prize on the March 11 Lotto 6/49 draw, according to the B.C. Lottery Corporation.

He found out about the lucky win when he scanned his ticket at an IDA pharmacy.

“I was kind of all over the place thinking, ‘Is this real?’” Harold told the BCLC. “I had the cashier at the IDA double-check it for me. I was speechless!”

He shared the news with his grandson, who was “flabbergasted,” and the pair now plan to embark on a motorcycle trip across Canada, with help from the winnings.

“Touring across Canada can now be a reality and my retirement is in place,” Harold said.

The winning ticket was bought at an Esso on Swift Creek Road in Valemount.

The odds of winning the top Extra prize are roughly one in 3.76 million.
