91-year-old on mobility scooter struck by vehicle in Maple Ridge, RCMP say

A 91-year-old using a mobility scooter was left seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Maple Ridge Monday afternoon.

In a news release, Ridge Meadows RCMP said the incident unfolded in the intersection of 119 Avenue and 228 Street at approximately 3 p.m.

The intersection was closed to traffic and drivers were asked to avoid the area Monday afternoon. The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service was also called to the scene.

Mounties said the senior was taken to hospital and is in serious condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is co-operating with the investigation, according to authorities.
