Gas station employee injured after violent robbery The employee, who has a fractured skull, was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Toronto police are searching for a suspect after a violent knifepoint robbery at a St. Lawrence gas station left an employee with a fractured skull.

The incident, which was caught on a surveillance camera, happened at an Esso gas station near Front and Sherbourne streets just after 4 a.m. on June 13.

In the video released by investigators on Wednesday, a man is seen jumping over a counter before forcing the attendant to open the cash drawer. He is then seen ordering the employee to the ground.

The hooded man is then seen removing cash from the drawer before stomping on the worker’s head four times.

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, Insp. Lauren Pogue said the incident was “unprovoked, and entirely without cause.”

Pogue said the employee did as he should have and was “entirely compliant with the suspect’s demands.”

According to police, the attendant was rendered unconscious in the aftermath of the attack and was found on the floor when someone came in to the store. He was taken to hospital to be treated for his very serious injuries.

Police said the victim’s skull and orbital bone were fractured during the incident.

Pogue described the victim as “just a hard working individual who was working the night shift trying to put himself through school.”

“The level of violence seen in this particular robbery is extremely disturbing,” she said.

The victim is currently in a rehabilitation hospital, where he is expected to remain for several weeks.

Police said the suspect is a male, black, who stands between five-foot-eight and five-foot-10. He’s described as having a thin, muscular or athletic build. At the time, he was wearing a dark hoodie and a baseball cap with dark gloves and black Converse sneakers.
