Suspects posed as construction workers and stole more than $1M from ‘high-end’ GTA homes: police

Three men, who allegedly disguised themselves as construction workers to gain access to homes and steal more than $1M in goods, have been arrested.

Three men from the Greater Toronto Area are each facing several charges after allegedly disguising themselves as construction workers and stealing more than $1 million in goods from “high-end” homes in Toronto and York Region, police say.

The arrests come as a result of a six-month long probe dubbed Project Compass.

Toronto police say in September 2025, 14 Division’s Major Crime Unit became involved in an investigation regarding high-end residential break- and-enters.

Investigators allege the suspects dressed up as construction workers and enter apartments and condominiums during the daytime hours.

Police say they stole jewelry, precious metals, foreign and domestic currency, family heirlooms, and valuables worth more than $1 million.

They would then flee the scene in a newer model silver Jeep Compass.

More than 30 such break-and-enters were committed across Toronto and York Region.

Mindia Jintcharashvli, 41, and Valeri Mandaria, 35, both of Vaughan, have each been charged with 67 offences, including 21 counts each of conspiracy to commit indictable offence, break-and-enter and disguise with intent.

Imeda Khabuliani, 49, of Toronto, is facing 16 charges, including five counts each of conspiracy to commit indictable offence, disguise with intent, and break-and-enter

The charges have not been tested in court.

Police believe there may be additional victims and have released images of the suspects as well as their vehicle.
