Suspect photos released after stabbing at Toronto Reference Library in Yorkville

Police are trying to identify a suspect who may have been involved in a stabbing at the Toronto Reference Library in Yorkville this week.

Officers were called to the library, located at Yonge Street and Asquith Avenue, shortly before noon Wednesday for reports of a stabbing.

The altercation started on the second floor of the library after a man instigated what police believe to be an unprovoked argument with a 26-year-old man.

At some point, police said the argument escalated and the man who first provoked the argument brandished a knife and stabbed the victim.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result.

Police are searching for a suspect who is between five-foot-nine and five-foot-11 with a thin build, short black hair and black goatee or beard. He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, grey jeans and grey running shoes.

Investigators consider the man to be armed and dangerous and advise anyone who spots him to call 9-1-1 immediately.

On Thursday, police released photos in hopes witnesses would come forward and help investigators identify a suspect in the case.
