Man found shot after car chase ends in a collision near Downsview Park: police

Toronto police provide an update on multiple shootings in the city, including the search for two suspects after a 14-year-old was seriously injured.

Toronto police say a man was found shot following a two-vehicle collision that started with a car chase near Downsview Park Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the area of Stanley Greene and Downsview Park boulevards at around 1:05 p.m. for reports of a crash involving two vehicles.

In an update Wednesday evening, Paul MacIntyre, a superintendent from the Gun and Gang Unit, said two men were involved in an altercation before the collision.

“Both of those men then jumped in motor vehicles,” said MacIntyre. “They started to—what I would describe—chase one another.”

He added that one of the vehicles then crashed into a third vehicle that was not involved in the initial investigation.

The second vehicle, which was part of the car chase, fled the scene before officers arrived.

“At some point during the altercation between those three vehicles, one of the drivers was shot, and he was transported to hospital with injuries to his leg.”

A second driver was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash and how the shooting happened are still unknown.
