Fort Erie-bound QEW lanes reopen in St. Catharines following early-morning closure

A stretch of the QEW in St. Catharines is closed on March 6, 2026 due to icy conditions.

Ontario police say a stretch of the Fort Erie-bound QEW lanes in St. Catharines has reopened after it closed due to icy conditions Friday morning.

The OPP announced the closure, from Glendale to Welland avenues, in a tweet published at 6:41 a.m. and advised motorists to use alternate routes.

In an update at 7:40 a.m., police said the lanes had reopened. Drivers should still exercise caution in the area, they said.
