Crash on Hwy. 401 in Oshawa leaves motorcyclist dead: OPP

A motorcyclist has been killed after OPP say he collided with the back of a tractor-trailer on Highway 401 near Oshawa.

A motorcyclist is dead following a collision on Highway 401 in Oshawa on Wednesday morning, Ontario Provincial Police say.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of the highway at Harmony Road shortly before 6 a.m.

Police said the motorcyclist, a 25-year-old man from Pickering, crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were shut down for several hours.
