Minecraft creators to introduce new free multi-player mini-game

The creators of "Minecraft" have announced the imminent release a series of mini-games from June, with the first installment titled "Battle".

The game pits players against one another in a fight for survival using competitive multiplayer mode, with users able to play with up to four players in split-screen and up to 8 players online via Xbox Live. The option to add community members to join the game via an in-game matchmaking system is also available.

The game comes with three deadly arenas, with the focus squarely set on rapid tactical thinking and combat.

"Battle" will be available from June as a free update to Minecraft: Console Edition, paid maps to follow for US $2.99 each and further mini-games also scheduled for the coming months (via Mojang).
