A passenger was spotted riding in the open trunk of an SUV travelling on Highway 417 in Ottawa and filming two sports cars driving behind the vehicle, according to Ontario Provincial Police. The driver and the passenger are facing charges after the traffic stop on Highway 417 around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. The OPP says an officer stopped the vehicle after seeing someone sitting in the trunk. “OPP observed an individual riding in the trunk of an SUV with the tailgate open, filming two sports cars driving behind it,” OPP Const. Michael Fathi said. A photo shared by Ontario Provincial Police showed the individual sitting in the SUV’s trunk with their legs dangling out of the vehicle. The driver of the car was charged with stunt driving, which includes a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle impounded for 14 days. Fathi says the driver faces a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction. The passenger was charged for occupying a position in a vehicle that did not have a seatbelt, which is a $240 fine.
