Saskatoon police lay charges in April homicide

Saskatoon police are investigating two separate deaths in the city as homicides.

A 27-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with a homicide earlier this year in Saskatoon.

Police say the man was arrested at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre on June 9. He has been charged with manslaughter, unlawful confinement, assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death, aggravated assault and multiple weapons-related charges.

He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on June 10.

The charges stem from an investigation into the city’s fourth homicide of 2026.

Police were called to the 500 block of Avenue X South at about 3:45 a.m. on April 9 for a report of an injured person. Officers found a 39-year-old man unresponsive.

He was taken to hospital by Medavie Health Services West, where he was later pronounced dead.
