Ontario men charged after huge drug, tobacco seizure near Saskatoon

Two Ontario men are facing charges after Saskatchewan RCMP seized about 46 kilograms of methamphetamine and more than 4.2 million unstamped cigarettes during a traffic stop near Saskatoon.

RCMP say the men were arrested Oct. 29 after highway patrol officers stopped a truck and trailer at a weigh scale on Highway 16, where they found the meth and unstamped tobacco.

Police say the average dose of methamphetamine is 0.1 grams, meaning the seized boxes contained up to 460,000 individual doses.

Jasvir Singh, 45, of Brampton, Ont., and Harbir Singh, 27, of Georgetown, Ont., are each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of unstamped tobacco, and several offences under the Excise Act, Tobacco Tax Act and Criminal Code.

Both men appeared in Saskatoon provincial court Oct. 30.
