Man handed life sentence in North Battleford murder

Thang Sian Mang of Saskatoon was fatally stabbed at the Travelodge Hotel in North Battleford.

A man who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in North Battleford, Sask., has been given a life sentence.

Nicholas Giroux was charged after the death of Thang Sian Mang at a North Battleford hotel in 2013.

He was set to head to trial this week, but he pleaded guilty in September at Prince Albert Court of Queen’s Bench.

The 36-year-old has a long history of charges in Saskatoon, including assault, robbery, and drug and weapons offences. He won’t be eligible for parole for 10 years.
