Nine arrested on outstanding warrants in Punnichy RCMP operation

Punnichy RCMP arrested nine people on outstanding warrants during a coordinated enforcement operation on Feb. 15.

Police said officers simultaneously executed nine arrest warrants at multiple locations as part of ongoing efforts to locate individuals wanted by the courts. In total, the nine accused were facing more than 30 outstanding charges.

“Arresting wanted individuals reduces the risk to the public and ultimately leads to safer communities,” said Staff Sgt. Nathan Rondeau, detachment commander of the Punnichy RCMP. “This was a proactive, coordinated effort by our officers. I’m proud of the initiative and dedication they’ve shown.”

The individuals were wanted for a range of alleged offences, including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, uttering threats, mischief, breach of probation and failing to appear or comply with probation conditions.

Four of the accused were held in custody pending their scheduled court appearances. The remaining five were released with orders to appear in Punnichy provincial court.
