Kenaston Volunteer Fire Department put out a bale fire Saturday afternoon near the village of Bladworth. It was spotted just before 3 p.m. by Deputy Chief Allie Lowdermilk and Jamie Siroski, according to a social media post. As the two were travelling to Davidson, they saw smoke coming from a farmyard. The two then found multiple round bales lit ablaze which threatened a large silage pile and several buildings. The volunteer department responded with four members and three units and also requested water support from the Davidson Volunteer Fire Department. “Members began extinguishing the bales and using a tractor to move the bales away from further fuel,” read the post. “The wind was in our favour and the fire was brought under control before further spread. All bales raked out and hot spots extinguished.” The department says the area was cleaned up and handed over to landowners afterwards. All units were back in service as of 5:41 p.m. Bladworth is about 17 kilometres northwest of Davidson.
