A heavy police presence was reported in a southeast St. Thomas neighbourhood Friday morning. A police canine unit was among the responders on Empire Parkway around 8:30 a.m. Neighbours said they saw tactical officers with rifles drawn earlier in the morning. Police appeared focused on a townhouse unit near Ayrshire Avenue. RCMP officers were also at the scene. St. Thomas police have not provided details about the operation, saying only that officers were there to support another service’s investigation.
