Police in Lakelands, N.S., are investigating an early-morning assault. West Hants RCMP responded to a report of an assault around 1:30 a.m. Friday. “Officers learned a woman was driving on Hwy. 1. As she was near the intersection with Coles Rd., she was flagged down by a man standing near a car that was pulled over with its four-way flashers on,” reads a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP. “When the woman stopped her vehicle and got out to assist the man, he shoved her to the ground.” The force says the woman was able to defend herself and get away in her vehicle. She did not report physical injuries. Police describe the man as in his 40s, white, about five-foot-eight, with dark facial hair and wearing all black clothes. His car was a small dark sedan or coupe, possibly a Honda Civic. “At this time, RCMP in Nova Scotia have not received other reports of similar incidents. If anyone sees similar behaviour and does not feel safe to stop, contact police for follow-up. Call 911 in an emergency,” reads the release.
